A November to Remember: 13,500 Seed Bombs, 291 Changemakers:
At Sustainability Leadership Kosova (SLK), we like to dream big—and this November, the Green Wings Project proved that dreams combined with action can truly make an impact. With 13,500 seed bombs created, 291 volunteers engaged, and Kosovo’s first-ever aerial planting achieved, this journey was nothing short of inspiring (and muddy).
The journey started with our seed bomb creation workshops, where a total of 291 changemakers came together to roll, mould, and craft 13,500 seed bombs using a mix of clay, compost, and native seeds. Each session began with a short talk on why forests and biodiversity matter, led by SLK. From students to seasoned professionals, everyone got their hands dirty, proving that creating a greener future isn’t always clean work. We kept things lively with music, dance, and a touch of friendly competition. Who could make the most seed bombs? Whose looked the best?
By November 14th, it was mission accomplished: 13,500 seed bombs, ready to take flight!

Taking Flight
SLK made history with Kosovo’s first-ever aerial planting using drone technology, where seed bombs were expertly scattered across 5 hectares of barren land, creating the foundation for a greener future.
But this project was never just about technology. It’s about the roots of change, inspired by the concept of the Wood Wide Web—an underground network of tree roots and fungi that share resources and nurture growth. In much the same way, our partnerships formed the strong roots of this project, enabling it to thrive.
On the ground, volunteers took things a step further with guerrilla manual planting, covering an additional hectare in the Arberia location. Together, these efforts brought us to a total of 6 hectares planted, transforming previously barren spaces into hopeful beginnings of a thriving forest.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Përparim Rama, whose vision for a greener Prishtina continues to inspire us all. A huge thank you also goes to our partners—the Municipality of Prishtina, USAID Kosovo Climate Adapt, and Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo—for their unwavering support and collaboration in turning this vision into reality.
Finally, a special thank you to the amazing volunteers and groups who joined us in making this project a success. Together, we rolled up our sleeves, created 13,500 seed bombs, and planted the seeds of tomorrow. A heartfelt shoutout to:

At SLK, we believe that change happens when communities come together. This project wasn’t just about planting trees—it was about planting resilience, hope, and a sense of collective responsibility. With every seed bomb planted, we’re creating a legacy for future generations. This is what drives us forward.
The Road Ahead
With 13,500 seed bombs scattered , we’re already gearing up for the next phase. Quarterly monitoring will ensure these seeds grow into a thriving forest. By 2025, we aim to cover 20 hectares, and we’re excited to welcome more changemakers along the way.
Green Wings is more than a project—it’s a movement!
Join us, stay involved, and let’s grow a greener Prishtina together.
